Preparing your own income tax return can be a task that leaves you with more questions than answers. According to a study released by the US Government's General Accounting Office last year, most taxpayers (77% of 71 million taxpayers) believe they benefited from using a professional tax preparer.
Whether we like it or not, today's tax laws are so complicated that filing a relatively simple return can be confusing. It is just too easy to overlook deductions and credits to which you are entitled. Even if you use a computer software program there's no substitute for the assistance of an experienced tax professional.
Here's what you get...
-
Your tax return will be checked and rechecked by our staff and computer software identifying potential problems the IRS may look at more closely and reviewing the math to limit IRS contacts.
-
Where varying treatment options exist within the tax laws, we will evaluate the impact of each option on the current and future years, and recommend a course of action that is best suited to your specific needs.
-
We will evaluate whether your specific transactions required the filing of tax returns in states outside of CA and will prepare the necessary non-resident tax returns as needed.
-
You may elect to file your tax returns electronically, which typically results in receipt of your refund more quickly than if you mail hard copies of your returns
-
We will provide you with a bound copy of your tax returns, along with your original supporting documents, for your files. Keeping your records organized has never been easier!
- If requested, our staff will show you how to adjust your payroll withholding to keep more money back each week. Why give the IRS an interest free loan for up to 16 months?
Books a Mess: No Problem!
If you own a small business and haven't kept up your bookkeeping, don't worry. We can help you. We'll prepare your bookkeeping for the year, prepare a full Schedule C, as well as your personal income tax return. Then we'll help you set up an easy system that allows you to keep your books in tip-top shape next year.
Audit Representation:
Even with careful detail applied to the preparation of your tax return, most taxpayers will be the subject of an examination by a tax authority, whether it be the Internal Revenue Service, Employment Development Department, State Board of Equalization or CA Franchise Tax Board. When this happens we can help. Our staff can provide you with assistance and representation from examination through the appeals process.
We can serve as an intermediary between you and the auditor, thereby removing much of the stress involved with an audit. We can even have the auditor complete their examination work in our office, where we will accumulate and organize your documentation, provide such documentation to the auditor and answer questions posed by the auditor. Doing so frees up your time to focus on your business and other daily activities while the audit is conducted. Most of our clients have expressed a tremendous relief at having us step in and assist them through the audit process.
